利安德·沃茨的小说, 美丽的死亡之城, reminds me of those amazing albums where great bands use their songs to tell a complex, 多维的故事.  每首经典歌曲都是独一无二的, 灿烂迷人, but when interwoven with the others on the album, 让事情变得更深, wider and more powerful as the listener lets him/her-self be enveloped in the band’s vision. Edward Bloor’s 十字军 is the kind of book I love: engaging plot; exquisitely drawn, realistic characters; and a thought-provoking story where both the characters and a patient reader grow and come to new realizations by the end of the book. 当我们第一次见到罗伯塔·里特时, 一个15岁的工作女孩, 免费, in her family’s virtual reality mall arcade, she’s not much more than a oddball doormat.
